IN BRIEF:

RETIRED FROM SPORT, BUT STILL HAPPY TO HELP:

  1. Those heavily affected by their disability to improve self-reliance and
  2. Those competitive riders less affected by their disability to compete – from their first competition to winning at the Paralympics. To give you my years’ of experience not just in dressage training, but also the tools and education on financial literacy, budgeting, resource management, and developing the community involvement to raise the hundreds of thousands of dollars it takes to compete and win at World Class Level.
  3. To raise money. I have never charged an NDIS client or therapeutic riding centre for a lesson, clinic, or providing advice, however provided hundreds of hours of training and fundraising events.

A 40+ YEAR HONOUR

I’m retired from sports coaching, however, I’m still happy to donate time, or help with charitable fundraising.

For 40 years I have had the honour of teaching clients with disabilities, and to write and teach training programs to their coaches, and fundraise for the Riding for Disabled Association, therapeutic riding programs, and individual Paralympic athletes. I am happy to help from time to time on weekends, or an evening fundraiser.

I wrote and delivered the very first biomechanics-specific program for Riding for Disabled Official Coaches and Assessors, and awarded with Five Separate Awards from the Riding for Disabled Association.

I have worked with clients with severe intellectual and physical disabilities who could only work on the ground and nervous beginners, so scared they couldn’t pat the horse from the other side of the fence – right through to the world’s very Paralympic medallists.

I love using my experience at the University of NSW to help write Grant Applications and sponsorship proposals, and I’m happy to donate my free advice to any of my NDIS clients to help them plod through the paper maze of an NDIS plan, assessment, meetings and revisions.

To raise the extraordinary amount of money needed to fly horses internationally, I have had to develop a lifetime of clever “out of the box” creative solutions for fundraising. I’m honoured if I can help you. Here’s some of my most successful fundraising ideas that have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for RDA, therapeutic riding and individual and team Paralympians.

Expert witness

I have been asked twice to be an expert witness:

  • Expert witness (in court) on behalf of Maurice Blackburn Lawyers (horse related/disability case).
  • Expert witness (60-Page Written Opinion) for McCabe’s Lawyers (injured rider with a disability)

HELP WITH EMPLOYMENT

I have been able to use my Personnel Consulting experience together with my experience as Spokeswoman for WorkCover, and the knack of being able to wade through government hoops and paperwork to help my riders find full or part-time jobs while they trained.

I helped my riders prepare resumes, gather correct documentation, helped with interview skills, marketing themselves, vocational guidance and skill improvement. Please contact me if you need help finding employment. It is my true joy to donate time – free of charge to help any client with a disability find employment.

HELP WITH YOUR PLAN

As the previous Spokeswoman for WorkCover, and as an Expert Witness in court, I am extremely careful in following doctor’s recommendations when forming training plans for riders with a disability.

The training plan for something like World Championships and Paralympics means planning everything from funding to to flying horses internationally – to organising physical support while travelling.

I am retired from sports, but always happy to work closely with with family, friends, community, and government services and support groups, and providing, or finding help reviewing client’s NDIS and various support plans as the client’s needs change throughout the years.

APPLY FOR GRANTS & SPONSORSHIPS

With my grant-writing experience at UNSW, I was happy to help write grant, fundraising and sponsorship proposals.

MENTORSHIPS

Sometimes it’s not the cash, it’s the education we need to succeed at elite level. I am retired from sports coaching, however I am still happy to donate time to help establish mentorships where riders with disabilities can go to experts in their field, for free, to lean particular skills. From dressage to veterinary knowledge, to learning how to plod through your latest assessment on your NDIS plan, let me know how I can help.

become connected

No matter if you’re dealing with the NDIS, the PIP program, or the USA’s Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) it is easy to get bogged down in government paperwork.

That’s on top of whatever physical issues you might be dealing with, so, in my experience my best advise is: GET CONNECTED.

I am happy to donate free time to individuals and groups including help with advice with fundraising, organising fun events, liaising with families, and especially inspiring the community support it takes to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars to fly horses overseas.

I have years’ experience running major events and workshops, and have hundreds of contacts within the Riding for Disabled/and FEI, therapy and support groups around the world. Let me help connect you! Like I said, I’m retired from sports, but still happy to “chip in and help out” as an occasional volunteer – free of charge.

TECHNOLOGY

I leveraged my computer and biomechanics skills to research technology, and helped developing special equipment – from a simple rubber band technique that can save a disabled rider from injury, to input into a range of prosthesis from simple wrist braces being invited to input into the full body support of the one quadriplegic rider, which previously was unheard of.

I would research apps and websites relevant to those outside of funded support, and workshops partnering with Universities around the world.

I am happy to help with any kind of advice for NDIS clients and therapeutic sports and riding centres, just contact me for anything from a kind word to help getting access to proper mental health resources.

ASK ME ABOUT A DONATION…

Although I am retired from sports, if you are a rider with a disability, a veteran, or from disadvantaged circumstances, and need a hand – I am very happy to volunteer to donate help, training and advice and to donate free lectures, clinics and programs you can use in your fundraising campaign.
